Pistyll Point lies a few miles north east of Nefyn on the north coast of the Lleyn peninsula.it is a fairly comfortable rock mark on the point offering a sandy bottom straight out with rough ground either side.
From Caernarfon take the A487 Porthmadog road for 3 miles before joining the A499.10 miles further on turn right on the B4417 (sign posted Nefyn) passing through Llithfaen before reaching the village of Pityll,There are two main points of access to the venue: from the beach below the caravan park at Wern or,with with permission and a small donation in the charity box,through Tir Bach Farm above the headland.The latter is more direct but the path is beginning to erode so care must be taken and it can only be used during the summer months when the camp site is open.
From January to March catches consist mainly of whiting,dabs,coalfish and the occasional codling.In years gone by this period of the year used to boast a run of spurdog but sadly commercial pressure during the 1970's reduced their numbers to such an extent that they are now a rarity.Smoothound can provide exciting sport after dark during May and June with spotted and small eyed ray featuring on occasion.Crab baits fished at short range over the rough ground can produce the occasional bass.
Facing northwest the mark is sheltered from winds from south to northeast but becomes unfishable in anything above a force 4 from the west to northerly quadrant.
The rising tide will gradually wash away ground bait placed at the different levels above the low water mark releasing a steady controlled bait trail into the sea.
